Please share a bit about your background and how you got started in photography? How long have you been a photographer?

I have been a photographer since the early 2000’s after completing some courses in my local technical college. I was the youngest person there, and I enjoyed shooting some paid jobs in local nurseries and for local families. As a mostly self-taught photographer, I didn’t quite take it seriously until my first wedding in 2010. Then, my wife wanted to get involved and we officially started marketing as wedding photographers in 2012. The early days were tough, but as a seasoned photographer 14 years later, it’s now much more fun and relaxed.

I started on medium format and film and also purchased my first DSLR, a Nikon D70s. I really loved the development of digital photography and being a part of its evolution. Even though the technology changed quickly and I regularly changed my equipment, I always had a film camera, and I still enjoy shooting a roll of film.

What is the best part about being a photographer? What is the most challenging part of being a photographer?

The best part of being a photographer is walking into each wedding and getting to capture memories and moments that mean so much to our clients. I think the most challenging part is getting couples to relax into the photography side of the day and enjoy every moment. I would say that’s part of what makes us unique. People feel comfortable in our presence.

What would you say is the most important marketing strategy for your business?

The most important marketing strategy is being 100% true to yourself. We show our couples what to expect from us as photographers and deliver imagery that is in line with our website and portfolio.

Do you have a signature editing style that clients can expect from your work?

I would say our signature editing style is “natural.” So, being true to the day itself, I edit to suit the day, the weather, and the scene, rather than making it something it isn’t. Our couples expect a really natural style of photography with editing to match. We don’t Photoshop anything or heavily edit our imagery, and our couples love the authenticity of it all.

How has Impossible Things (IT) AI Photo Editing benefited your business?

Impossible things has sped up my workflow so that I can dedicate more time to concentrate on social media, marketing, and admin. This allows me more free time with my family and kids, especially during the summer when our kids are on break from school.

All in all, this takes so much stress and pressure off of us as a husband and wife photography team, and it gives us great work/life/family balance.

What is your current workflow with Impossible Things, and how has it improved?

I save all images onto an external working drive. Then, I import all images from the shoot into Lightroom and build SP (Smart Previews) to cull down the images. Next, I edit 25 random images from the shoot (using images with different lighting conditions captured at various times of the day, if it’s a wedding) through the Custom Tuning tab under Impossible Things.

Once that is finished and I’m happy with the custom-tuned edits, I batch-edit the full shoot, which can run between 900-1300 images. I still go through all images, but I only need to do slight tweaks in the basic adjustments. For the most part, it automatically performs all the changes that I would usually do on my own. As I mentioned, this has sped up my workflow considerably.

Do you have recommendations for users who are considering Impossible Things?

Take the time to get to know Impossible Things and work through the iron-out stages. I set the AI to 100% and let it do its thing.

What is your favorite Impossible Things feature and why?

The crop and straightening features save me the most time, and using automatic background selections saves so much time too.
